The Threeworlds Fusion Collapsible Pixie Dragon Staff packs the versatility of a full-sized dragon staff into a shorter, more compact setup. Designed for double dragon spinning, daytime practice, and anyone who prefers a shorter staff, the Pixie uses two Fusion staff ends connected by a Fusion Double Adapter instead of the standard three-piece construction.

Choose your staff material, grip, dragon hubs, and heads to build a compact setup for fire, LED, or daytime flow. Bonobo Flow, Threeworlds V3, and Ultra hubs share compatible spoke connections, allowing you to switch between different spoke types without replacing your hubs. Complete Lumi Dragon Heads offer another LED option with their own dedicated hub and spoke system.

Important Sizing Note: Pixie staffs are made by connecting two Fusion staff end sections with a Double Adapter. The staff length displayed in your cart may differ from your selection due to how the components are configured. You will receive the Pixie staff length selected on this product page.

Why Choose a Pixie Dragon Staff?

  • Double Dragon Flow: The shorter length provides more clearance for underarm movements, crossings, and other techniques where two full-length dragon staffs can get in each other’s way.
  • Responsive Handling: The shorter shaft makes the staff easier to maneuver through compact movements and transitions.
  • Shorter Spinners: A standard 55 inch (140 cm) dragon staff may still be too long for some spinners. Pixie configurations offer a significantly shorter alternative.

Choose Your Dragon Staff Hubs

Each hub option offers a different combination of weight, mounting style, and convenience.

  • Bonobo Flow Hubs: Our most budget-friendly option and the heaviest of the three at 4.52 oz (128 g) per hub. These two-piece aluminum hubs clamp around the outside of the staff tubing, adding more weight near the ends for increased rotational inertia.
  • Threeworlds V3 Hubs: Precision-machined from 7075 aluminum, these removable clamp-style hubs weigh 3.63 oz (103 g) each. They offer a lighter alternative to Bonobo Flow Hubs while maintaining compatibility with the same interchangeable spokes.
  • Threeworlds Ultra Hubs: The lightest option at 3.10 oz (88 g) per hub. Ultra Hubs use an internal Fusion pressure-fit connection, allowing the complete hub and spoke assembly to attach or detach with a quick twist.

Fire, LED & Daytime Spoke Options

Bonobo Flow, V3, and Ultra hubs share compatible spoke connections, allowing you to change between different types of spokes while keeping the same hubs.

  • Bonobo Flow Fire Spokes: Our 7.5 inch (19 cm) fire spokes feature semi-rigid steel cable construction and replaceable pure Kevlar wicks. Their sturdy design provides a small amount of give to help absorb impacts from drops.
  • Lumi LED Spokes: Polycarbonate LED spokes powered by rechargeable Lumi LED Light Units. Compatible with Bonobo Flow, V3, and Ultra hubs, making them a versatile option for switching between fire and LED configurations.
  • Spiral Dragon Claws: Polyurethane daytime practice spokes with a distinctive spiral design. Ideal for training, festivals, and environments where fire or LED lighting isn’t necessary.

Complete Lumi LED Dragon Heads

For a different approach to LED dragon staff spinning, Lumi LED Dragon Heads combine flexible polyurethane hubs with illuminated polycarbonate spokes.

Unlike individual Lumi LED Spokes, which attach to Bonobo Flow, V3, and Ultra hubs, complete Lumi Dragon Heads use their own dedicated hub and spoke system. The assembled heads pressure fit over the outside of the staff ends, allowing you to install or remove the entire LED assembly without changing individual spokes.

This is particularly convenient when paired with Ultra Hubs. You can twist off the complete Ultra hub and spoke assembly, then pressure fit a Lumi Dragon Head over the staff end for a quick change between configurations.

6 or 8 Head Configurations

Bonobo Flow, V3, and Ultra hubs accommodate either 3 or 4 spokes per hub, allowing you to choose between 6-head and 8-head configurations.

  • 6 Spokes: Three spokes per hub for a lighter setup that’s easier to accelerate, slow down, and change direction.
  • 8 Spokes: Four spokes per hub for a heavier setup that maintains its spinning momentum more easily.

Complete Lumi Dragon Heads use a fixed 3-spoke-per-hub design, providing 6 illuminated spokes per staff.

Fusion Double Adapter System

Instead of using a standard Fusion center handle, the Pixie configuration uses a Fusion Double Adapter to connect two staff end sections directly together. This creates the shorter overall length while preserving the pressure-fit connections that make the Fusion system quick to assemble and break down.

  • Collapsible Design: Separates into two staff sections and a central adapter for easier transportation and storage.
  • Fusion Pressure-Fit Connections: Expanding connectors secure the sections together with a twisting motion.
  • Material Options: Choose between 7075 aluminum and carbon fiber.
  • Grip Options: Available with EPDM, F-Grip, or silicone tubing.
  • Modular Construction: Compatible with a wide range of Fusion components and accessories.

A Note for Younger & Shorter Spinners

The compact size can make a Pixie Dragon Staff a more appropriately sized option for younger spinners learning with daytime practice spokes. Fire spinning is inherently dangerous and is not recommended for children. Younger spinners should use non-fire practice configurations with appropriate supervision.

Fire Safety & Maintenance

Fire spinning involves inherent risks and requires proper training, safety equipment, and precautions. When using fire components, always inspect your staff, Fusion connectors, hubs, spokes, and Kevlar wicks before use. Ensure all components are securely attached, and never spin fire without appropriate safety measures in place.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date. Related products

Dragon staffs are staffs with shorter rods, called spokes, attached on each end. These rods often have kevlar wick or LEDs attached and come in sets of 3 or 4 per side. They were inspired by Fei Cha, an ancient Chinese martial arts weapon, and originally produced by Gora.

These staffs are different from regular staffs and can be a fun challenge for flow artists. They are heavier than regular contact staffs because of the added spokes. Because of this, carbon fiber has become a popular option for dragon staffs because it can’t get bent like aluminum and is lighter. That being said, collapsible aluminum staffs are not realistically going to bend either, they are just slightly heavier.

Dragons generally are meant to keep rolling, in comparison to contact staffs that can be kept more static during flow sessions. Heavier staffs do well for slower flow styles and meditative flows, whereas lighter staffs do well for quick direction changes and faster styles of flow.
