Bonobo Flow Dragon Staff Fire Spokes are built from durable steel bridge cable and wrapped with 2 inch (50 mm) flat Kevlar wick for a combination of strength, flexibility, and impact resistance. Each spoke measures approximately 7.5 inch (19 cm) long and weighs approximately 3.25 oz (92 g), creating a substantial fire spoke with plenty of wick for a strong flame presence.

Unlike super flexible spoke designs, the steel bridge cable has only a small amount of flexibility that helps absorb impacts from drops and hard landings. This reduces the amount of shock transferred through the spoke and into the hub while creating a fire spoke that’s still rigid enough to not affect the rolling inertia of the dragon staff.

2 Inch Kevlar Wick

Each spoke is wrapped with 2 inch (50 mm) flat Kevlar wick for reliable fuel absorption and consistent burns. Each wick is secured with 2 screws AND the edge is sewn which makes this one of the most durable fire spokes available on the market. The wick is cut and assembled by hand, so minor variations in finished weight and dimensions can occur between individual spokes.

The wick can also be replaced once it eventually wears out, allowing you to continue using the steel bridge cable rather than replacing the entire spoke. Replacement Flat Kevlar Wick is available separately for rebuilding your spokes.

Flexible Steel Bridge Cable

The internal spoke structure uses steel bridge cable rather than a completely rigid shaft. This gives the spoke enough flexibility to absorb some of the force from drops and impacts while maintaining the strength needed to support the fire wick.

This construction makes the spokes particularly durable while helping reduce stress on both the spoke itself and the dragon staff hub during the inevitable less-than-perfect landing.

Compatible Dragon Staff Hubs

These fire spokes are compatible with Bonobo Flow Dragon Staff Hubs, Threeworlds Fusion Ultra Dragon Hubs, and Threeworlds Fusion V3 Dragon Hubs.

Bonobo Flow Fire Spokes measure approximately 7.5 inch (19 cm) from end to end, making them about 0.4 inch (1 cm) longer than standard Threeworlds fire spokes. The slightly longer design places the flame a little farther from the staff core while adding a small amount of additional size and weight toward the outside of the prop.

Replaceable & Serviceable

Once the Kevlar eventually reaches the end of its usable life, the steel bridge cable can be rewicked rather than discarded. If you prefer to build your own spokes from the beginning, our Blank Dragon Staff Fire Spokes provide the same style of steel bridge cable foundation without wick installed.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date.
