Bonobo Flow Dragon Staff Hubs are heavy-duty clamp-style hubs designed for building modular 6, 8, or 10 headed dragon staffs. Each hub clamps around the outside of compatible 22mm (7/8″) staff tubing, allowing you to add dragon staff spokes without requiring a dedicated pressure-fit connection system.
Designed as a more budget-friendly alternative to other dragon staff hub systems, they keep the important stuff: a solid two-piece clamp design, broad spoke compatibility, and the ability to build fire, LED, or daytime dragons using the same pair of hubs. At 4.5 oz (128g) per hub, they’re also the heaviest of our current hub options, providing greater rotational inertia and a more planted feel during contact rolls.
Two-Piece Clamp Design
Each hub consists of two interlocking teardrop-shaped pieces secured together with two socket head screws. This design allows the hubs to either slide over the end of an open staff tube or separate completely so they can be installed around staffs with end wicks or other components that prevent the hub from sliding on from the end.
Key Features
- Budget-Friendly: A more affordable way to build a modular dragon staff without giving up compatibility with fire, LED, and daytime spoke options.
- 6, 8, or 10 Head Configurations: Each hub accepts either 3 or 4 spokes, creating a 6 or 8 head pure dragon staff. Install them on a compatible staff with end wicks and you can build a 10 head setup with 8 spokes plus the 2 end wicks.
- Clamp-On Design: Installs around the outside of compatible 22mm (7/8″) staff tubing without requiring a dedicated pressure-fit hub connection.
- Two-Piece Construction: The hub can be completely separated for installation around staffs with end wicks or other components that prevent it from sliding over the end of the pole.
- Heavyweight Feel: At 4.5 oz (128g) per hub, the added end weight increases rotational inertia and gives the staff a more planted feel during contact rolls.
- Fire, LED & Daytime Compatible: Use the same hubs with compatible fire spokes, LED spokes, or daytime practice spokes.
- Pre-Applied Threadlocker: Spoke grub screws come with medium-strength threadlocker pre-applied to help prevent loosening during use.
Spoke Compatibility
Bonobo Flow Dragon Staff Hubs use the same spoke connection size as the Threeworlds V3 and Ultra hub systems. This makes them compatible with Threeworlds dragon staff spokes as well as Bonobo Flow Dragon Staff Fire Spokes.
- Threeworlds and Bonobo Flow Dragon Staff Fire Spokes
- Threeworlds Lumi LED Spokes
- Threeworlds Spiral Dragon Claws
- Other compatible Threeworlds spokes designed for V3 and Ultra Hubs
Pure Dragon & End-Wick Staff Compatibility
On a standard pure dragon staff with open tube ends, the assembled hubs can simply slide over the end of the pole before being clamped into position. We recommend using compatible removable end caps inside hollow tubing to reinforce the tube where the hubs apply clamping pressure.
For dragon staffs with end wicks, the two hub halves can be separated and reassembled directly around the pole below the wick. This makes the clamp system especially useful for converting compatible fire contact staffs into fire dragon staffs.
Installation & Care
Your hubs include the Allen keys needed to tighten the socket screws and spoke grub screws. We include two keys so they can be connected together for additional leverage when tightening or loosening the hardware.
