The Threeworlds Fusion V3 Dragon Hub is a versatile clamp-on hub system designed for building modular dragon staffs with fire, LED, or daytime spokes. Unlike Fusion hubs that use a dedicated pressure-fit connection, the V3 clamps directly around the outside of compatible staff tubing, allowing it to be installed without permanently modifying the pole.

Each V3 Hub accepts either 3 or 4 spokes, allowing a pair of hubs to create a 6 or 8 spoke dragon staff. The clamp-on design also allows V3 Hubs to be installed on compatible contact staffs, making them a useful option if you want to convert the same staff between contact and dragon configurations.

3 or 4 Spokes Per Hub

Each V3 Hub can hold either 3 or 4 compatible spokes. Using two hubs gives you the choice between a 6 spoke setup for reduced weight and clearance or a fuller 8 spoke configuration.

V3 Hubs are compatible with a variety of Threeworlds and Bonobo Flow spoke options, including Dragon Staff Fire Spokes, Spiral Dragon Claws, and Lumi LED Dragon Spokes. This allows the same hub system to move between fire, daytime, and LED configurations.

Clamp-On 22 mm Design

V3 Hubs are designed to clamp around 7/8 inch OD (22 mm OD) staff tubing. One M4 x P0.7 x 20 mm bolt with a washer passes through the hub and threads into a cylinder nut to secure the two halves together. The bolt uses a 3 mm Allen key.

Because the hub clamps around the outside of the staff rather than inserting a pressure-fit connector into the tube, it can be installed on compatible dragon staff and contact staff cores. This makes the V3 particularly useful for spinners who want to convert a compatible contact staff into a dragon staff without dedicating the pole exclusively to dragon.

Adaptable to 19 mm Staff Tubing

Although the V3 is primarily designed for 7/8 inch OD (22 mm OD) staff tubing, it can also be adapted for compatible 3/4 inch OD (19 mm OD) staff cores using V3 Dragon Hub Spacers.

19 mm staff cores are less common in modern dragon staff setups, but the spacer option remains useful for older staffs and compatible custom builds.

7075 Aluminum Construction

The V3 Hub is constructed from high-strength 7075 aluminum, providing a durable clamp system capable of handling the drops and impacts that come with dragon staff practice. Each hub weighs approximately 3.68 oz (104 g), adding some weight toward the ends of the staff.

For some spinners, that additional end weight creates a more planted feel during rolls and transitions. Others may prefer a lighter setup, particularly when prioritizing faster direction changes.

V3 vs. Ultra Dragon Hubs

The Fusion Ultra Dragon Hub and V3 both accept either 3 or 4 compatible spokes, but the way they connect to the staff is fundamentally different.

V3 Hubs clamp around the outside of the staff tube. Ultra Hubs use the Fusion pressure-fit system, allowing the complete hub to be installed or removed from a compatible Fusion staff with a quick twist. This makes the Ultra significantly faster to swap, while the V3’s clamp-on construction allows it to work with a broader range of compatible staff cores.

Protect Your Staff Tubing

When clamping a V3 Hub around hollow staff tubing, reinforcing the inside of the tube can help protect it from the pressure created as the hub is tightened. This is particularly useful with carbon fiber staff cores.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.
