OrbPoi LED Contact Poi combine the weight and spherical shape of contact poi with rechargeable multicolor LEDs. The large silicone heads are designed for traditional spinning, tosses, stalls, contact rolls, and juggling, making them a versatile option for spinners who want one LED set that can handle more than basic poi patterns.

Each 97 mm OrbPoi head uses a rechargeable Dot XL Pro LED light surrounded by a soft silicone contact ball. The result is a substantial, evenly shaped poi head with enough weight for predictable momentum while remaining considerably more forgiving on impact than a hard-shell LED prop.

Designed for Contact Poi

The spherical heads give OrbPoi the shape needed for contact-style movement. Their round profile allows them to roll across the hands, arms, and body while maintaining a consistent shape during tosses, catches, wraps, and stalls.

At the same time, the added weight creates strong momentum during conventional spinning. This makes OrbPoi approachable for beginners who want a substantial poi set while leaving plenty of room to progress into contact tricks, juggling, and more technical movement.

Rechargeable Dot XL Pro LEDs

Inside each OrbPoi head is an UltraPoi Dot XL Pro rechargeable LED light. The lights offer 12 adjustable color modes and 36 flash patterns, giving you plenty of combinations without requiring software or programming.

The built-in rechargeable batteries provide approximately 6 to 14 hours of runtime depending on the light settings and recharge in under 2 hours using Micro USB.

Soft 97 mm Silicone Heads

Each light is protected by a soft silicone Orb case. The 97 mm spherical design provides the size and surface area needed for contact rolls while helping absorb impacts during drops, catches, and the occasional direct negotiation between your poi and your face.

The spherical shape also produces consistent-looking light trails from different viewing angles, unlike elongated LED poi where the apparent width of the trail changes depending on the orientation of the light.

Adjustable Poi Length

OrbPoi use durable 3/8 inch braided nylon rope, allowing the tether length to be adjusted to suit your body size and preferred spinning style. Once you have found your preferred length, excess rope can be trimmed for a cleaner setup.

The included UltraGrip Pro handles use a compact silicone knob shape designed for secure control while still allowing tosses and catches. Their relatively small profile keeps the handle end of the poi unobtrusive while giving you a defined grip point.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.
