Lumi LED Prism Poi combine soft silicone heads, rechargeable LEDs, and a geometric design inspired by the way light refracts through a prism. The result is a comfortable LED poi set that works well for beginners learning new movements while still offering the weight and responsiveness experienced spinners expect from a performance poi.

The soft silicone construction is much more forgiving during missed catches and accidental impacts than hard plastic LED heads. Inside each head, a rechargeable Lumi LED Light Unit illuminates the geometric shell with more than 20 bright color modes.

Geometric Silicone Prism Heads

The faceted Prism shell gives these poi their distinctive shape while helping diffuse light throughout the silicone head. Rather than simply putting an LED inside a round shell, the geometric design becomes part of the illuminated effect as the poi move through the air.

The silicone also provides a soft exterior for practicing new tricks, catches, and transitions. Getting hit by your poi is still a pretty reliable indication that the trick needs work, but at least the feedback is softer.

Matching Prism Knob Handles

The geometric design continues into the silicone Prism Knobs. They’re grippy and slightly weighted, giving you a defined handle for standard spinning while also providing enough structure for tosses and other handle-based movements.

Length is adjustable directly through the knob. Pop out the center piece, shorten the rope to your preferred length, and reinstall it to secure the adjustment. If you’re unsure where to start, our poi sizing guide covers common ways to choose your poi length.

Rechargeable Lumi LED System

Each Prism head is powered by a rechargeable Lumi LED Light Unit with more than 20 color modes. USB-C charging eliminates disposable batteries, and the removable light units make the lighting system replaceable rather than permanently built into the poi.

Responsive Braided Tethers

The heads and knobs are connected with 1/4 inch (6mm) braided cord, creating a clean, responsive tether without unnecessary hardware between your hands and the poi. Combined with the weighted silicone heads and knobs, the setup works well for traditional poi spinning, tosses, stalls, and technical movement.

Soft enough for learning, weighted enough for serious spinning, and considerably more interesting once the lights go down.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

They are usually used in sets of two, although three or more can be used for more complex spinning or juggling styles of poi flow.
