When regular fire poi just aren’t quite enough, the Mega Isis Fire Poi bring some serious firepower. These oversized Isis heads use a unique knotted Kevlar rope construction to create substantially larger wicks with excellent fuel capacity, impressive burn times, and plenty of spinning momentum.

Unlike traditional Isis heads made from flat Kevlar wick, Mega Isis heads are constructed using Kevlar rope. The initial Isis knot is tied loosely, allowing additional rope wick to be threaded through the loops to create a much thicker, fuller head. The result is a substantial fire poi head designed for spinners who want bigger flames, longer burns, and a heavier spinning feel.

Paired with durable Technora tethers, Mega Isis Fire Poi are available with your choice of relaxed or semi-static rope, customizable tether lengths, removable or direct connections, and optional PX3 Poi Knobs.

Mega Isis heads take the classic Isis knot and expand on its construction to create a much larger wick.

Choose Your Technora Tether

Customize how your Mega Isis Fire Poi move with two different Technora tether options:

  • Relaxed 5 mm Technora: A softer, more flexible tether with a loose, fluid feel. Great for spinners who prefer natural rope movement without much added structure.
  • Semi-Static 8 mm Technora: A thicker, firmer tether that maintains more of its shape while retaining some flexibility. The added structure provides additional feedback and predictability during tosses, stalls, and other technical movements.

Both options use high-performance Technora aramid fiber, offering excellent strength, durability, and heat resistance.

Fire Safety & Maintenance

Mega Isis Fire Poi contain substantially more wick material than standard fire poi, allowing them to absorb more fuel. Always fuel responsibly, remove excess fuel before lighting, and ensure you have adequate space and appropriate safety equipment.

  • Never soak Technora tethers in fuel. Only the Kevlar wick heads should be fueled.
  • Remove excess fuel before lighting to reduce the risk of fuel being thrown during spinning.
  • Avoid leaving burning poi stationary on the ground, as prolonged heat exposure can damage the tethers and surrounding materials.
  • Inspect your Kevlar heads, Technora tethers, and connection hardware before every use.
  • Replace any tether showing signs of fraying, excessive wear, heat damage, or compromised connections.
  • Ensure quick links are fully closed and securely tightened before spinning.
  • Practice new techniques with unlit equipment before attempting them with fire.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

Poi are one of the most popular flow props in the world, consisting of weights attached to tethers that are swung rhythmically. They are usually used in sets of two, although three or more can be used for more complex spinning or juggling styles of poi flow. They come in a wide range of styles, from simple sock poi for beginners to elaborate fire and LED poi for experienced performers.
