These 2.75 inch (70mm) Monkey Fist Fire Juggling Balls are built for experienced fire jugglers looking to bring actual flame into their juggling. Each ball uses a four-bight Monkey Fist weave made from Kevlar wick, creating a compact fire prop with a consistent shape for tosses and catches.

Each ball weighs approximately 3.8 oz (108g) dry and unfueled. The weight will increase after fueling, with the final fueled weight depending on the fuel used and how much remains in the wick after spin-off. These are intended for experienced performers who already have solid juggling fundamentals and understand the additional risks that come with catching a burning object. Maybe learn the cascade before adding fire.

Four-Bight Monkey Fist Construction

Each ball is constructed using a four-bight Monkey Fist weave, creating an approximately 2.75 inch (70mm) diameter fire head. The woven Kevlar construction provides plenty of wick surface while maintaining the rounded shape needed for juggling.

Fuel & Gloves

We recommend using lamp oil with these juggling balls rather than hotter, faster-burning fuels such as white gas. Fire-resistant gloves, such as appropriate leather or Nomex gloves, are also strongly recommended to reduce direct heat exposure while catching and handling the balls.

Even with gloves and an appropriate fuel, these juggling balls can become extremely hot during use. They are intended for experienced fire performers who understand fuel handling, prop temperature, extinguishing procedures, and working with a trained fire safety.

Fire Juggling Safety

  • Experienced Performers Only: Practice the complete juggling sequence extensively with non-fire props before attempting it with fire.
  • Wear Appropriate Gloves: Fire-resistant gloves are strongly recommended while juggling.
  • Use an Appropriate Fuel: Lamp oil is recommended for its slower, cooler-burning characteristics compared with white gas.
  • Spin Off Excess Fuel: Remove excess fuel before ignition to reduce the risk of fuel transfer and burning droplets.
  • Work With a Fire Safety: Have a trained safety person and appropriate extinguishing equipment ready whenever performing with fire.

Before using any fire prop, read our Fire Safety for Flow Arts guide, fire prop maintenance guide, and Safety Disclaimer.

Sold individually. If you plan on juggling three, you’ll want three balls. Fire juggling is already difficult enough without discovering your set only has one.

SKU CAAMFFJB Category Tag Brand:

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

After you read the fire safety guide linked above and before lighting up you fire tool, please also read through our safety disclaimer.

We ship our products Monday-Friday from Los Angeles, CA, USA. Many of our listed products are ready-to-ship unless we have to assemble them, which can add a day or two to process. That being said, we ship out orders in the order they are placed within 1-2 business days (with some exceptions like holiday seasons).

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date. These are estimations and not guarantees as USPS might have delays, but reach out to us if you are looking for more specific time frames!

We can’t promise any specific shipping timeframes for international delivery as customs can cause many unforeseen delays.

Of course! We’re just a text, email, or DM away from being able to answer any question you have. All of our contact details can be found here or you can scroll down to find the buttons in our footer. We’re active on social media too so we are pretty easy to get a hold of!

Juggling is one of the oldest flow arts modalities in the world. It has been around for centuries in different forms and has evolved quite a bit in the flow arts scene. Juggling balls are the most common juggling prop and come in different styles and weights. Beanbag balls are a great place for beginners to start as they are durable and comfortable to practice with. Juggling clubs are used similarly but are more advanced because they have to be caught on specific parts of the tool. Contact stage balls are designed to roll smoothly across your body. They can also be used in toss juggling, but are generally larger and meant for more illusions and rolls.

In addition to these, we have devil sticks, which are a fun and challenging prop that you manipulate with handsticks. These are also called flower sticks when flowers are attached to them, which makes them easier to control. Diabolos are spinning tops that you control with two control sticks attached to a string.

Juggling is good exercise and can help you improve your coordination, focus, and timing. Studies have shown it can increase coordination and focus, while also improving the ability to read, write, and reason.

Nowadays, many flow props can be juggled outside of traditional flow props. This includes staffs, sticks, rings, poi, hoops, and just about anything you have more than one of!
