Fire Trickstix Devil Sticks bring the classic flower stick prop into the world of fire performance. The set consists of two silicone-gripped control sticks used to manipulate a central fire devil stick.

The central stick is constructed from sturdy 5/8 inch (16 mm) aluminum and finished with a silicone grip over a black and silver geometric design. Silicone flowers at each end help distribute the weight and slow the rotation of the stick, providing greater control while performing.

Silicone Grip & Flower Design

The center of the devil stick features a 10 inch (25.4 cm) silicone-gripped section that provides traction wherever the control sticks make contact. The two included control sticks are also covered in silicone for consistent grip between the three components.

Silicone flowers positioned toward each end of the devil stick add rotational drag while helping distribute weight away from the center. This gives the prop the slower, more controlled behavior associated with flower sticks while still allowing for tosses, stalls, spins, and other manipulation techniques.

1 Inch Kevlar Fire Wicks

Each end of the devil stick is equipped with 1 inch (25 mm) Kevlar wick, creating flames on both sides of the central stick. With appropriate fueling and maintenance, the Kevlar is designed to withstand repeated burns and can provide a long service life before requiring replacement.

Wick lifespan varies depending on fuel choice, burn duration, extinguishing technique, and general care. For information on getting the most life out of your Kevlar, read our Fire Prop Maintenance Guide.

What Are Devil Sticks?

Devil sticks, also commonly called flower sticks, are a juggling and manipulation prop consisting of two handheld control sticks and a third central stick. The performer uses the control sticks to keep the center stick moving between them, creating spins, stalls, tosses, catches, and a wide variety of other patterns.

Today, the same style of prop can be found in daytime, LED, and fire versions. If you’re looking for a non-fire version for practice, check out our Trickstix Devil Stick, or add some glow with the Lumi Pro Trickstix LED Devil Stick.

Fire Performance & Safety

Fire devil sticks combine juggling, manipulation, and exposed flame, so adequate clearance and reliable control of the prop are especially important. We recommend becoming comfortable with your patterns using a non-fire devil stick before introducing fuel and flame.

Fire performance requires appropriate training, clearance, extinguishing equipment, and a trained fire safety. Please review our Fire Safety for Flow Arts guide and Safety Disclaimer before use.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

After you read the fire safety guide linked above and before lighting up you fire tool, please also read through our safety disclaimer.

We ship our products Monday-Friday from Los Angeles, CA, USA. Many of our listed products are ready-to-ship unless we have to assemble them, which can add a day or two to process. That being said, we ship out orders in the order they are placed within 1-2 business days (with some exceptions like holiday seasons).

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date. These are estimations and not guarantees as USPS might have delays, but reach out to us if you are looking for more specific time frames!

We can’t promise any specific shipping timeframes for international delivery as customs can cause many unforeseen delays.

Of course! We’re just a text, email, or DM away from being able to answer any question you have. All of our contact details can be found here or you can scroll down to find the buttons in our footer. We’re active on social media too so we are pretty easy to get a hold of!

So happy there is a local flow toy store in LA!! I bought my first dragon staff from here, and just recently bought a flow star for festival season. Next on the list to buy will probably be some poi or a contact staff. Momo is such a sweetheart!

Juggling is one of the oldest flow arts modalities in the world. It has been around for centuries in different forms and has evolved quite a bit in the flow arts scene. Juggling balls are the most common juggling prop and come in different styles and weights. Beanbag balls are a great place for beginners to start as they are durable and comfortable to practice with. Juggling clubs are used similarly but are more advanced because they have to be caught on specific parts of the tool. Contact stage balls are designed to roll smoothly across your body. They can also be used in toss juggling, but are generally larger and meant for more illusions and rolls.

In addition to these, we have devil sticks, which are a fun and challenging prop that you manipulate with handsticks. These are also called flower sticks when flowers are attached to them, which makes them easier to control. Diabolos are spinning tops that you control with two control sticks attached to a string.

Juggling is good exercise and can help you improve your coordination, focus, and timing. Studies have shown it can increase coordination and focus, while also improving the ability to read, write, and reason.

Nowadays, many flow props can be juggled outside of traditional flow props. This includes staffs, sticks, rings, poi, hoops, and just about anything you have more than one of!
