Bonobo Flow Fire Rope Dart Leashes are purpose-built tethers for fire rope dart spinning, available in black Technora or black Dyneema. Both are high-strength, low-stretch synthetic fibers that provide the responsive connection and control needed for wraps, tosses, shots, and technical rope dart movement.

The biggest difference is heat resistance. Technora can tolerate substantially more heat, while Dyneema provides a lightweight, smooth-feeling tether but requires more care around flame. If you’re deciding between the two, the right choice mostly comes down to your experience level and preferred rope feel.

Technora Fire Rope Dart Leash

Technora is a high-temperature-resistant aramid fiber known for its strength, durability, and resistance to heat. Unlike many synthetic fibers, Technora does not simply melt when exposed to high temperatures, making it particularly well suited for fire flow props.

Because the entire leash is made from Technora, there isn’t a lower-temperature main rope that needs to be kept away from the fire head. This makes Technora the more forgiving option if your rope becomes tangled or unexpectedly moves closer to the flame during a burn.

For that reason, Technora is generally our recommended choice for newer fire rope dart spinners or anyone who prioritizes heat resistance and a lower-maintenance setup.

Dyneema Fire Rope Dart Leash

Dyneema is an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber known for exceptional strength at a very low weight. Its smooth feel against the skin makes it the preferred leash material for many intermediate and advanced rope dart artists, particularly for wraps and other techniques where the rope moves directly across the body.

Unlike Technora, Dyneema has relatively low heat resistance and can melt when exposed to sufficient heat. Our Dyneema Fire Rope Dart Leash therefore uses a Technora lead section between the main Dyneema rope and the hardware connecting to the fire head. This creates a heat-resistant section where the leash is normally closest to the flame.

The Technora lead does not make the entire leash heat resistant. If the main Dyneema rope becomes tangled around or comes into contact with a burning fire head, it can still melt. Melted fibers can create hardened spots along the rope that are uncomfortable to spin with and may require the leash to be replaced.

For experienced fire rope dart spinners who are comfortable managing their rope around a burning dart, Dyneema is generally our recommended option. Technora remains the more forgiving choice for newer fire spinners or anyone who prioritizes heat resistance over rope feel.

Uncoated Dyneema

Our Dyneema rope is uncoated, so there is no stiff outer coating that needs to be broken in before the leash becomes comfortable to use. It arrives ready for flow without waiting for your rope to stop feeling like rope-shaped cardboard.

Adjustable Length

Each leash measures approximately 10 ft 2 inch (3.10 m) to the end of the included quick link. The leash can easily be shortened by tying loops near the handle end, allowing you to adjust the usable length to your body and preferred spinning style.

If you’re unsure where to start, check out our Rope Dart Length Guide for help sizing your setup.

Swivel & Quick Link Connection

A swivel at the dart end helps reduce twisting in the leash as the dart rotates. An included quick link provides a removable connection point for compatible fire dart heads, making it easy to attach or change your head without rebuilding the leash.

These leashes pair naturally with our Shuriken Fire Head and other compatible fire rope dart heads.

Fire Safety

Even heat-resistant rope can be damaged by excessive or prolonged flame exposure. Inspect your leash, lead section, swivel, quick link, and attachment points before every burn and replace damaged components before spinning.

SKU BFRDFL Category Brand:

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

After you read the fire safety guide linked above and before lighting up you fire tool, please also read through our safety disclaimer.

We ship our products Monday-Friday from Los Angeles, CA, USA. Many of our listed products are ready-to-ship unless we have to assemble them, which can add a day or two to process. That being said, we ship out orders in the order they are placed within 1-2 business days (with some exceptions like holiday seasons).

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date. These are estimations and not guarantees as USPS might have delays, but reach out to us if you are looking for more specific time frames!

We can’t promise any specific shipping timeframes for international delivery as customs can cause many unforeseen delays.

Of course! We’re just a text, email, or DM away from being able to answer any question you have. All of our contact details can be found here or you can scroll down to find the buttons in our footer. We’re active on social media too so we are pretty easy to get a hold of!

Rope props such as poi, rope darts, puppy hammers (aka oxbow meteors), and meteor hammers use ropes, swivels, quick links, knobs in their construction. The most common ropes used in these props is technora and rhyno rope (also known as Dyneema or UHMWPE). Poi knobs come in various colors, sizes, and styles (LED or non LED). We have thoroughly tested our swivels and quick links to ensure they put up with the stresses of flowing with props like rope darts.
