The Threeworlds Fusion Prism LED Contact Staff combines the portability of the Fusion system with a next-generation hybrid contact head design. Unlike older LED contact staffs that relied entirely on polycarbonate construction, the Prism uses a combination of aluminum and polycarbonate ends to create a more rigid, responsive feel while maintaining the impact resistance and light diffusion that LED staffs are known for.

The result is a staff that feels more stable during body rolls, pinches, and technical movements. The hybrid construction significantly reduces the wobble and flex found in many fully polycarbonate LED staffs, creating a cleaner, more predictable experience without sacrificing the lively feel that makes contact staff so much fun to spin.

Built around the Threeworlds Fusion pressure-fit system, the staff breaks down into multiple pieces for easy transport and storage. Choose between a lightweight carbon fiber handle or durable 7075 aluminum handle, along with your preferred grip option, to create a setup that matches your style and preferences.

Key Features

  • Hybrid Prism Heads: Aluminum and polycarbonate construction improves rigidity and reduces unwanted wobble compared to fully polycarbonate designs.
  • Fusion Collapsible Design: Breaks down into multiple pieces and reassembles in seconds using Threeworlds’ patented pressure-fit connection system.
  • Lumi LED Light Units: USB-C rechargeable light units with multiple colors and lighting modes.
  • Geometric Prism Design: Distinctive faceted shells protect the light units while creating a unique daytime and nighttime appearance.
  • Handle Options: Available with either lightweight carbon fiber or durable 7075 aluminum construction.
  • Custom Grip Choices: Available with EPDM, F-Grip, or silicone grip depending on your preferred feel.
  • Modular System: Compatible with a wide range of Fusion components, allowing you to expand into fire, dragon staff, and other Fusion configurations without replacing the entire setup.

Why Choose the Prism?

  • More rigid and responsive than many traditional LED contact staffs
  • Reduced wobble during rolls, stalls, and technical contact movements
  • Breaks down for travel and easy storage
  • Modular platform allows future upgrades and configuration changes
  • Excellent visibility for nighttime practice and performance

If you’ve ever spun an LED contact staff that felt overly flexible or unstable, the Prism was designed to solve exactly that problem.

Variations

Grip

  • EPDM: A synthetic black rubber grip that is durable, padded, and reliable in less-than-ideal conditions. It maintains traction in sweat, humidity, and dust, making it a strong choice for outdoor or extended sessions. It becomes more grippy with use. It may leave a small amount of black residue on your hands at first, but it washes off easily. Low maintenance overall, with a short break-in period when new. This is the lightest grip option.
  • F-Grip: A textured natural black rubber tube grip that combines key features of EPDM and silicone. It is easy to clean like silicone but maintains traction better in sweat or dirty conditions. It does not require a break-in period, so it feels consistent right away. Slightly less grippy than silicone in fully dry conditions, but more reliable once moisture is involved. A well-rounded option that performs in most environments and currently the most popular choice.
  • Silicone: High-temperature silicone tubing with a lightly textured surface for added grip. One of the tackiest options when clean and dry, making it ideal for controlled spinning. It is also the easiest to clean. A quick wipe with water or alcohol restores performance. It can lose traction when dirty or sweaty, so occasional cleaning helps maintain consistency.

Material

  • Aluminum 7075: One of the strongest commercially available aluminum alloys. Slightly heavier than carbon fiber and more budget friendly. The added weight creates a more stable, grounded feel during contact, which can help when learning. It is also more forgiving with drops, since it will typically dent or bend rather than break.
  • Carbon Fiber: Lightweight and very strong, making it a popular choice for performance-focused setups. The lighter shaft shifts more weight toward the ends, creating a stronger contact feel. It also has a more dynamic, responsive feel. Best suited for those who prefer a lighter staff and are mindful of their gear during use.

Length

  • Staff length should be around chin height. For most people, 1500mm (59″) lands right about there and is the most popular size. It’s a solid all-around choice if you’re unsure. If you want to dial it in further, check out our guide on choosing the right staff length.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

After you read the fire safety guide linked above and before lighting up you fire tool, please also read through our safety disclaimer.

We ship our products Monday-Friday from Los Angeles, CA, USA. Many of our listed products are ready-to-ship unless we have to assemble them, which can add a day or two to process. That being said, we ship out orders in the order they are placed within 1-2 business days (with some exceptions like holiday seasons).

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date. These are estimations and not guarantees as USPS might have delays, but reach out to us if you are looking for more specific time frames!

We can’t promise any specific shipping timeframes for international delivery as customs can cause many unforeseen delays.

Of course! We’re just a text, email, or DM away from being able to answer any question you have. All of our contact details can be found here or you can scroll down to find the buttons in our footer. We’re active on social media too so we are pretty easy to get a hold of!

Contact staffs are a unique type of flow prop designed for dynamic movements and intricate body rolls. Unlike traditional staffs that are primarily held in the hands, contact staffs are designed to maintain contact with the body, rolling smoothly across the arms, shoulders, back, and neck. They typically should be be sized for chin height. The added end weight allows for better center point balance and stability during rolls. Contact staffs are one of the most popular tools used in both fire and LED performances.

Other kinds of staffs include spin and double staffs. Spin staffs are not as heavily weighted as contact staffs, so they can be spun much more quickly. This is popular for more martial arts styles of movement where contact manipulation isn’t used as much. Double staffs are shorter than spin and contact staffs. Because of two tools being used, it allows for more complex patterns of spinning as well as geometric shapes that can be created.
