The Threeworlds Fusion Collapsible Dragon Staff is the ultimate tool for fire spinners, flow artists, and performance enthusiasts. This innovative modular system offers unparalleled versatility, allowing you to customize your staff to suit your unique style and skill level.

Key Features:

  • Collapsible Design: Easily assemble and disassemble the staff by twisting for convenient storage and transport. This breakdown staff features a patented pressure-fit connection system.
  • Durable Construction: Crafted from high-quality materials like carbon fiber and space grade aluminum 7075, ensuring long-lasting performance.
  • Customizable Configurations: Experiment with various lengths, weights, grips, and spokes to create the perfect staff for your needs.
  • Beginner-Friendly to Expert-Level: Suitable for all skill levels, from aspiring artists to seasoned performers.

Why Choose the Fusion Collapsible Dragon Staff?

  • Portability: Easily take your practice anywhere with its compact, collapsible design.
  • Durability: Built to withstand the rigors of intense performance.
  • Modularity: Switch between fire, daytime, and LED, as well as contact staff ends.
  • Safety: Engineered with safety in mind, providing a secure and reliable performance tool.

Traveling with a dragon staff used to be a major inconvenience, but this new system makes it easy to take your staff anywhere. The fire and daytime spokes fit into the V3 and Ultra hubs, allowing you to switch between them. However, the Lumi LED spokes requires the Lumi hubs, so you’ll need to remove the V3 or Ultra hubs to install.

Variations

Material

  • Aluminum 7075: This aluminum is the strongest aluminum alloy commercially available. It’s slightly heavier than carbon fiber and more budget friendly.
  • Carbon Fiber: Carbon fiber’s high strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for lightweight, high-performance parts. Lighter than the Aluminum 7075 handle.

Grip

  • Silicone: a continuous tubing made of high-temperature resistant silicone rubber. This particular tubing is air textured to make it more grippy compared to other silicone tubings. This also helps to reduce loss of traction in moist conditions. It is one of the tackiest and longest lasting grip. Silicone is grippiest when clean and dry. Depending on the environment and person, occasional wipe downs to remove any moisture may be required. It is easier to clean compared to EPDM because you can spray it with water or rubbing alcohol and wipe down.
  • EPDM: a synthetic black rubber grip that is durable, grippy, and padded. In comparison to silicone, it is better at retaining grip in moist conditions and is slightly lighter. This makes it more suitable for consistently sweaty, humid, or dusty conditions. EPDM becomes more grippy with use and ages like a fine wine. It has a slight tendency to leave black residue on skin which can be cleaned with soap and water. This grip is better for those who don’t want to regularly clean their grip. If it does get dirty enough to be problematic, you can use a slightly moist towel to gently wipe down the grip. Do not spray down like silicone tubing.

Length

Staff length should be about chin length. For a majority of people 1500mm (59″) sits at about chin length and is the most popular size. Refer to our blog How to Choose the Perfect Staff Length.

Hub Type

  • V3 Hubs: The V3 hubs are the most versatile dragon staff hubs on the market. They clamp onto the outside of the staff and give you the option of switching between 3 or 4 spokes per hub, for a total of 6 or 8 spokes on a full dragon staff. V3 hubs are heavier than the F3 and Ultra hubs. End caps are included which need to go into the ends of the staff in order to protect the tube where the hubs clamp onto the staff. They are made of space-grade aluminum 7075, making them extremely durable. They can be attached to Threeworld’s Collapsible Fire Contact Staffs to make a combo Dragon/Contact Staff. Spacers can be utilized to attach these hubs to 19mm OD staffs.
  • Ultra Hubs: Ultra hubs combine the best aspects of the F3 and V3 Hubs. Utilizing the fusion’s patented quick release connectors, these can be installed and removed in seconds by twisting. They are made of space-grade aluminum 7075, making them extremely durable. They fit 3 or 4 spokes per hub for a total of 6 or 8 spokes. They are heavier than (discontinued) F3 hubs (19g difference) but lighter than V3 hubs (12g difference). These are way more convenient than V3 hubs, but cannot be attached to contact staffs or adapted to 19mm OD staffs. If your style of flow involves a lot of quick roll-direction switches, the V3 hubs might be a better fit for you.

Spokes

  • Fire Spokes: made with 2″ wrapped Kevlar wicks that are securely screwed into steel cable spokes. The spokes are very slightly pliable to receive the impact from dropping your dragon safely. This is the way to go if you wanna be a real fire-bender 🙂
  • Dragon Claws: 3D printed spokes that come in different colors. They are great to use when practicing because they are slightly heavier than fire spokes and can take more damage. This is one of the coolest daytime dragon staff spoke available anywhere.
  • Lumi LED Heads: These easy-to-attach LED heads offer vibrant illumination with outstanding value and accessibility. The Lumi spokes, made from durable, light-diffusing polycarbonate tubing, ensure smooth light dispersion. The Lumi hub, crafted from strong yet flexible polyurethane, provides a secure and resilient connection. Note: Lumi spokes are only compatible with Lumi hubs, both included in this kit.

Flow toys are props and tools used in flow arts, which is a movement based art-form that involves object manipulation. Flow props are extensions of your body and tools for self expression.

Despite being called “toys”, flow toys are meant for everyone and you will find that a majority of flow artists are actually adults! Contemporary flow arts include many modalities like dance, martial arts, or just “free-flow.”

The best flow toy to start with is the one that you’re most excited to learn. Although some props might be more difficult to learn than others, this differs greatly from one person to another. We found that the more excited you are to learn a specific prop, the more likely you will be to practice and learn quickly.

Stick props like dragon staff, contact staff, or spin staff can be easier for some since its a more static prop that you can hold onto. Rope props like poi and rope dart require more plane control at the beginning but are also much easier to travel with. Others like flow stars and pixel whips have their own kind of movements that don’t really fall into the other two categories we mentioned. But they’re super popular for ravers and festival goers!

We have a feeling you’ll end up owning more than one type of prop though so regardless of what your friend thinks is the best flow toy to start with, just get whatever you’re most excited to learn!

Fire dancing carries some inherent risks, but if you follow all of our fire safety instructions the risks are very avoidable. We recommend feeling super comfortable with a flow toy before lighting it on fire for the first time.

If you’re new to flow arts, we also recommend getting a daytime practice prop (or even LED prop) since you might be dropping your flow toy a lot when you’re first learning. The Kevlar on fire props can deteriorate much more quickly from repetitive drops, so practice props are ideal to keep them safe.

We have fire, LED, and daytime versions of most of our main props. Even if you can only afford one version and end up starting with a fire prop, they can be protected with wick covers. No matter what type you have, we recommend practicing on soft ground like grass to protect them as much as possible.

After you read the fire safety guide linked above and before lighting up you fire tool, please also read through our safety disclaimer.

We ship our products Monday-Friday from Los Angeles, CA, USA. Many of our listed products are ready-to-ship unless we have to assemble them, which can add a day or two to process. That being said, we ship out orders in the order they are placed within 1-2 business days (with some exceptions like holiday seasons).

Once shipped, we use USPS for orders in the USA and usually UPS for all international orders. Ground shipping in the US usually takes about 3-5 business days from shipping date, while priority shipping can be between 1-3 business days from shipping date. These are estimations and not guarantees as USPS might have delays, but reach out to us if you are looking for more specific time frames!

We can’t promise any specific shipping timeframes for international delivery as customs can cause many unforeseen delays.

Of course! We’re just a text, email, or DM away from being able to answer any question you have. All of our contact details can be found here or you can scroll down to find the buttons in our footer. We’re active on social media too so we are pretty easy to get a hold of!
